Mystical Jiuzhai | A New Tibetan Village Floating on Water

In May 2023, the boutique homestay "Youmei Yinsu · Jiuzhai Yunshang", part of the pairing assistance project between Qionglai City, Chengdu and Jiuzhaigou, officially opened. The project has been honored with the 2022 American MUSE Design Gold Award and the Italian IIDA Global TOP 10 Honor Award. "Jiuzhai Yunshang" integrates the unique Tibetan culture, rustic charm, and natural beauty of Jiuzhaigou into the homestay experience. It is not only a tourist destination but also a place of pilgrimage. At "Jiuzhai Yunshang", guests can gaze upon the faint silhouettes of distant mountains, where sunlight and mountain shadows create unexpected moments of wonder at any time…

"Youmei Yinsu · Jiuzhai Yunshang" was personally designed by Mr. Guo Yiting, a seasoned architect and graduate of the Architecture Department of Tongji University. Serving as both investor and chief architect, Mr. Guo, driven by his passion and reverence for Tibetan culture, employed deconstructivist principles to interpret the living scenes and design concepts of "neo-Tibetan culture." Through a cooperative and mutually beneficial development model of "company + village collective economy + farmers," the project has steadfastly advanced the transformation of rural tourism business models, service upgrades, and shared development. While achieving the goals of "enhancing rural beauty and increasing farmers' income," the project has set an example and provided reference for local residents in creating their own homestays by cultivating premium business models, offering refined services, and creating a sophisticated lifestyle. This has significantly boosted local confidence in building their hometown and developing tourism.

In the distance, undulating mountains stretch across the horizon, while nearby, lush greenery flourishes. Nestled within the autumn hues of the forest, distinctive traditional houses and rising wisps of smoke from chimneys create the unique and exotic landscape of the mysterious Tibetan village. The first phase of the project commenced in 2019 and was put into operation on May 1, 2023.

Key Promotion Points for This Initiative:

Building upon this project and set against the backdrop of rural revitalization and the paired assistance between Qionglai and Jiuzhaigou, the initiative aims to develop Shangsi Village into the "most distinctive traditional homestay village." This will be achieved on the foundation of both protection and development. Through the model of "village collective + company + farmers," the approach involves attracting enterprises by leveraging existing ones, implementing unified operation and management, strengthening industrial functions, and executing the plan in phased stages.
